Spinach Turkey Burgers

spinach turkey burgers

Man I dig turkey burgers, a lot. I mean in my hey day I was able to down beef hamburgers like there was no tomorrow, but I’ve always had a sweet spot for turkey burgers. I remember growing up my mom buying the Jenni-O ground turkey and chopping it into those cute little squares, served up with beans, cottage cheese and other stuff. It’s like Thanksgiving dinner, only in the form of a hamburger.

When I make my spinach turkey burgers today, I like to add in a variety of veggie goodness to make the tastes something special. Of course this requires a hamburger press, as leaving them as squares probably won’t work. I like to toss in a handful of spinach, green onions, garlic and other spices to really give these spinach turkey burgers a flavorful taste.

Ground turkey is lower in fat than traditional ground beef, and a source of omega-3 that can help with symptoms of PCOS. In my opinion, these spinach turkey burgers stand up tall to traditional hamburgers, and I’d pick any day of the week over a Big Mac ๐Ÿ™‚

Spinach Turkey Burgers

A fun and delicious take on a favorite burger alternative.

  • 1 lb Jennie-O ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 handful spinach
  • 1/4 cup green onions
  • 1/4 cup red onions
  1. Place a greased skillet on the stove, and turn to medium heat. Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl, and break apart.

  2. Add in the remaining ingredients. Use a flat spatula to break apart the spinach into smaller pieces.

  3. Once combined, place the spinach turkey burger mix in a hamburger press, or use the top of a bowl to cut into a circle and press flat. Place the patty on the skillet, and cook on both sides 5 – 7 minutes, or until brown.
